If you’ve ever wondered why food rules your life and ignites your senses, then you should find the following information quite interesting.

There’s actually an excellent explanation for what you’re feeling…make that three: – nourishment, emotional fulfillment, and bonding.

There are three common connections between food and love:

Eating Ideas: Food and Love

1.“Nourishment for mind, body, and soul…”

Food and love are two things that human beings can’t live without. Even though one comes in the form of fruits, vegetables, meats and grains and the other as kisses, hugs, and whispers, both are still equally important to our survival.

We need all of these ingredients in order to fully nourish our mind, body, and spirit. Otherwise, we will be left feeling empty and incomplete, merely existing instead of thriving.

Think about it; what’s strawberry shortcake without the strawberries? What’s a cheese omelet without the cheese? What’s a hamburger without the burger?

Still edible ingredients right? But without the entire combo, they’re just single elements leaving you wanting and needing more.

The same goes for food and love -- one without the other leaves one hungry at the end.

2.“Fulfillment of emotional needs…”

Have you ever noticed how people tend to fill themselves up with food whenever they’re lacking in emotional fulfillment? I have. I’m actually one of those people.

Somehow the empty voids I feel once in a while get smoothly covered by a juicy piece of fruit, a rich piece of chocolate, or a fresh piece of bread.

I melt within moments as the food glides slowly down my body and fills my wanting soul…and then, almost immediately, I am better.

Science attempts to explain this phenomenon by providing us with chemical names that are responsible for this euphoric outcome.

However, I believe that there’s much more to it than mere chemistry.

I think food fulfills us emotionally because it has the power to touch all of our senses as can a woman or man.

People arouse us with their scents…and so does food. People feel good to touch…and so does food. People taste good against the lips…and so does food. You get the idea.

Is it then not only natural that on some instinctual level food can satisfy the same emotional needs as can a human being?

I know that nothing can really take the place of a warm body by your side. But sometimes, during short and long droughts, you must consider sustaining your emotional reserve. And for that, you have food.

Romantic ideas: Eating and Bonding..

3.“Bonding…”

Food is a sure icebreaker, flawless conversation starter, and a guaranteed intimacy provoker.

I know of no other worldly element that has seen as many first dates, weddings, parties, anniversaries, birthdays, midnight rendezvous, and bare skin as has food.

You know I’m right. Somehow the presence of food makes us connect to others whether we want to or not.

We begin by talking about its taste, then its texture, then its smell…then it’s feel…we talk, touch, and taste so much that I think we forget what we’re talking about.

We get so immersed in the actual descriptions that it feels as though we’re actually discussing ourselves.

Am I the only one who thinks this?

I think that’s why food is considered the greatest aphrodisiac of all time.

Its qualities so closely resemble our own that we lose track of time and space -- forgetting our inhibitions, flaws, and insecurities.

It’s no wonder that lovers like to cook together, feed each other, and eat off of one another…it’s almost like having two feasts in one. What could be better than that?
